Surrey's Christmas season starts early. Craft fairs open in the first week of November, the big light trails and decorated houses follow from the third week, and most town markets fall on a single Saturday or Sunday between late November and mid-December.
Every date, time and price below comes from the organiser's, venue's or council's own website, checked in October 2026. Only events with published 2026 dates are included; a few well-known ones that have not yet announced their dates are listed at the end. Details can change, so check the organiser's page before you travel.

The shop stocks Christmas gifts and food, and there is a pop-up second-hand bookshop in the stable block. Quieter 'relaxed hours' in the house run on Tuesdays 1, 8, 15 and 22 December, 10.30am to 11.30am. The National Trust warns it gets very busy, so allow time for parking.

If you do drive, Sunday parking is free in Waverley's pay and display car parks.
Earlier in the season, the Christmas lights switch-on at Gostrey Meadow on Saturday 14 November (1pm–6pm, free) has food, drink and gift stalls, children's rides and a Santa's grotto, with the lights going on at 4.30pm. Not yet announced
Some regular fixtures had not published 2026 dates when we checked. The Reigate Business Guild Christmas Fayre closes Church Street for stalls and includes the town's lights switch-on at 4.30pm; it was held at the end of November in 2025 and the Guild has already named its 2026 sponsors. Hello Dorking's Christmas Festival took over Dorking High Street on 30 November 2025, 11am–5pm, free. Loseley Park, near Guildford, ran guided Christmas tours of the decorated house on three Saturdays in late November and December 2025, at £15 per person. Check their websites from November.

Before you go
The town markets are free and need no booking, but the light trails and estate events are busiest at weekends in December, and RHS Wisley Glow is pre-booked only. Where an event is free to National Trust or RHS members, bring your own membership card. If you know of a Surrey Christmas market or fair with confirmed 2026 dates that we have missed, tell us and we will check it and add it.
