Working with The Surrey Index
For businesses
The Surrey Index is a list of fifty pubs, farm shops, inns, makers and wedding suppliers, chosen by the editor. Nobody can pay to be added, and paying does not change what we write.
Businesses already on the list can pay for extra visibility, called Featured. It is always labelled “Featured · Paid”, so readers can tell it apart from our editorial choices.
What Featured includes
- Your business shown first in its category in the directory, marked “Featured · Paid”.
- Your own photos on your page.
- A short monthly report: how many people viewed your page, and how many clicked through to book, call, get directions or visit your website.
- Your details updated whenever you tell us something has changed.
Featured does not buy a place in our Journal guides, a better write-up, or a guaranteed number of enquiries. Guides are written independently, from facts we can check.
Price
Founding rate
£29 a month
For the first ten businesses. Your price stays at £29 for twelve months.
Standard rate
£49 a month
Once the founding places are taken.
The first month is free. There is no contract: you can stop at the end of any month.
How to start
Email desk@thesurreyindex.co.uk with the name of your business. We reply within a few working days and confirm the details by email.
Already listed? Add the badge
Every place on the list is welcome to show this badge on its website. It is free and has nothing to do with Featured.

You can suggest your business for the editor to consider; there is no charge and no guarantee. The list is capped at fifty, so a place opens only when the editor makes a change. Write to the same address, or see About.
