Real Christmas Trees in Surrey: Where to Choose or Cut Your Own (2026)

Eight Surrey farms and nurseries selling real trees, three where you can cut or dig your own, with 2026 opening dates and prices where they have been published.

Editorial Staff · 15 October 2026 · 7 min read

Surrey still grows a good share of its own Christmas trees. Between the heaths around Elstead and Milford, the Surrey Hills plantations and the clay fields near Lingfield, there are farms where you can walk the rows and pick a tree, and a few where you can take a saw and cut it yourself.

Every date, price and rule below was checked on each business's own website in October 2026. Several farms had not yet published their full 2026 details, and we say so where that is the case. Opening days can change with the weather and with how fast trees sell, so confirm before you travel.

Before you go

Nordmann fir
The most popular tree in the UK: soft needles and good needle retention
Norway spruce
The traditional, strongly scented tree; it drops needles sooner, so buy it closer to Christmas
Measure first
Measure the ceiling height and the width of the space, and allow for the stand and the topper
Water
Use a stand with a water reservoir, keep it topped up, and keep the tree away from radiators
Cutting your own
Bring your own hand saw (no chainsaws or power tools), gloves and wellies; fields get muddy in December

No variety is truly "non-drop": as Crockford Bridge Farm puts it, freshness and care matter more than the species, so a recently cut tree kept in water will last longest.

Cut or dig your own

01

Crockford Bridge Farm

Addlestone, Surrey

A long-established farm on New Haw Road near Weybridge, and one of the few in the South East where you can cut your own tree. It grows Nordmann fir, Norway spruce, blue spruce and, as a newer planting, Fraser fir, which is narrower and suits smaller rooms.

Cutting your own must be booked: you buy a £30 deposit voucher for a date and time, take a wheelbarrow into the plantation, then pay the balance at the tills once the tree is measured. Trees between 4ft and 10ft may be cut, at ground level, between 10am and 4pm. Pre-cut trees need no booking; they stand on spikes so you can see them from every side.

Its 2026 Christmas opening dates were not yet on the website in mid-October. Dogs are not allowed in the growing fields.

Prices
From £30; the farm says an average 6ft tree costs £50 to £60, depending on variety
Cut your own
Booking essential (£30 deposit, deducted from the price); bring a hand saw, no chainsaws

Dean House Farm (Newdigate Farms)

Newdigate, Surrey

A family estate between Dorking and Horsham where you can either cut a Norway spruce or dig one up with its roots. Dig or cut trees cost £45 each, whatever the size, and only a set number are released each season to keep a ten-year growing rotation, so once they are gone, they are gone. Please don't take trees below waist height.

If you would rather not cut, there are freshly pre-cut Nordmann firs and Norway spruces from 4ft to 10ft, from £40. Larger trees can be special-ordered, but the farm asks for those orders by the end of September. Local handmade wreaths are £30 and tree stands from £20.

Open
Daily 9am to 3.30pm from 28 November 2026 until Christmas Eve or sold out (a banner on the same page says 29 November, so check)
Bring
Your own spade or hand saw, and sturdy footwear

Kingsley Farm Christmas Trees

Felcourt, near Lingfield, Surrey

A small farm on Blackberry Road, Felcourt, close to where Surrey meets Kent and Sussex. It planted its first trees in 2009 and grows Norway spruce, Nordmann fir and blue spruce. You choose a tree in the field and the farm cuts and wraps it, or you can cut it yourself, or dig it out with its roots to replant, using your own hand tools (no power tools). Trees are colour-tagged by height, from red for 3ft to 4ft up to green for 12ft to 15ft.

No booking is needed. You can also reserve a tree for later collection or delivery. Delivery within about four miles costs £8, and for another £8 the farm will collect the tree after Christmas.

Oxenford Farm

A working farm on the Milford road that has been in the same family for more than five generations and has grown Christmas trees for over fifty years; it is a member of the British Christmas Tree Growers Association. Most of its trees are grown at Elstead, with some specialist trees from Hampshire and a few pot-grown trees from Scotland.

Trees run from 3ft to more than 30ft, in Nordmann fir, Norway spruce, blue spruce, Fraser fir and lodgepole pine, cut or pot-grown. Santa Fir Christmas Tree Farm (Hans Christmas Andersen)

Shamley Green, Surrey

Hans Christmas Andersen grows its trees on plantations in the Surrey Hills, and Santa Fir, on the Guildford road just before the Gaston Gate roundabout between Shamley Green and Cranleigh, is its farm site in Surrey. Norway spruce, Nordmann fir and pot-grown trees are cut through the season and stood on spikes in a "standing forest", so you can walk round each one. You can't cut your own.

Entry and parking are free. On selected weekends there is a Christmas market, a licensed bar, and donkeys and reindeer, and an independent decorations shop, All Wrapped Up, is on site. Cranleigh Garden Services delivers trees bought here; arrange it with them. Between 23 November and 4 December 2026 you can swap a complete artificial tree of 5ft or more for £25 off a real one here; the artificial trees go to the charity DEBRA. You can also bring your tree back to the yard after Christmas for recycling.

Father Christmas has moved his grotto here from Shamley Green: £6 per visit with a gift for every child, 10am to 3pm on 28 and 29 November and 5 and 6 December, with no booking. Delivery is not offered from this site.

Ripley Nurseries

Ripley, Surrey

A nursery and farm shop on the Portsmouth Road at Ripley that says all its cut trees are grown and cut in the Surrey Hills. It sells premium-grade Nordmann fir, colour-tagged by height from 125cm to 300cm, along with potted trees, lights and stands, from mid-November.

Its tree page lists Nordmann firs at £35 to £120. It does not say whether those are 2026 prices, so check before you go. The nursery suggests letting the tree settle for 24 hours in a shelter before bringing it indoors.

Farm shops in our directory

Two farm shops in our directory also sell cut trees, but they aren't grown on the farm. Garsons at Esher sells Nordmann fir, Fraser fir (at Esher only) and potted trees, grown in Ireland and on Dartmoor, wrapped in compostable netting. Priory Farm's garden centre near South Godstone lists premium-grade cut Nordmann firs from 3ft to 8ft and pot-grown Nordmanns from 2ft to 6ft. Neither had published 2026 dates when we checked.

Also selling real trees

If cutting your own is the point of the trip, book Crockford Bridge Farm early, or plan on Newdigate or Kingsley Farm, which don't take bookings. Remember that cut-your-own trees are limited and sell out. For choice of size, go in the first week; the growers who cut through the season still have trees on Christmas Eve, but fewer of them. And whichever you buy, get it into water as soon as you are home.
